5 Myths About Stressbusters

STRESS STRESS BABY..ting ding ding tiki ding ding

  • Honk honk honk, it’s got to be the end of time!
  • Would it have killed them to have just one more hour in the day!
  • Why’s the freaking pressure cooker not whistling!
  • Will I find the Rs.251 smartphone in my child’s pocket one fine day!
  • Am I just taking away water from my next gen!

From local to global, so many things playing on the mind, at the same time, with the same speed.

Ms. Padukone has warned us enough that if we go overboard with our stressful routines, we are destined to go down the unwanted path of depression. What should you do? What do you do? Yeah, maybe try out the conventional stress busting methods.

Walk the Talk ….

A walk is eternally the talk of the town. And why shouldn’t it be? If one does manage to venture out at off-peak hours, on relatively less crowded roads, in comparatively safer areas, it can work wonders.
So there you are, walking away, soaking every bit of whatever nature is left around you, listening to birds chirping from that one lonely distant tree, and you realize you forgot. You forgot to leave behind your phone at home, and now its ringing away. You answer the emergency call - “The kid has woken up and he just wont listen to me, he wants you.”
You take an about turn and the leisurely steps now turn into a brisk jog. Not bad, eh?

HaHaHaHa ….

You switch on the TV. And try to hunt for ‘good’ television. There’s a woman doing her business as usual, no wait, turns out she is actually a Naagin. On another channel, you see a decent looking protagonist. One moment there are girls drooling all over him. Wait the next moment, he is a tiger, ala Junoon style. Aargh!
You turn to the newspapers. Aamir Khan has joined hands with the Maha CM to find a solution to Maharashtra’s water crisis. You rub your eyes and check again. Peter wants a stay on a film on Sheena murder, and the news item indeed appears under the Entertainment column.
Daily dose of laughter taken care of?

Is That Music To Your Ears? ….

A no-brainer? Apparently, the way music affects your mind is incomparable. So you get set. Create the ambience and hit the button. You play the top chartbusters list. And the playlist begins with Chitta Kukkad Bane. Okay, maybe the next line would be simpler, Kashni dupatte waliye. Are you trying to freak me out bro? Its so stressful to get down to decipher the meaning. Next. Next. next. The playlist runs something like this - Tukur Tukur, Manma Emotion Jaage Re, Aaj Phir Peene ki Tamanna Hai
Soul-stirring, heart-touching music indeed.

Eat Your Way to a Stress-Free You ….

Research suggests that a stressed body needs to be treated to something sweet- a candy or chocolate or a drink. It is supposed to soothe the senses resulting in the secretion of a stress hormone. Ummm… unnecessary details. Never mind, was there any research suggesting what would happen if one got further distressed, due to excessive consumption of sweets? Boss there are some ill-fated folks, who have not just one sweet tooth, but a whole set of 30 sweet somethings.

Meditate People, Meditate ….

Close your eyes….. Why did she say that to me?
Take a deep breath……. Did the doorbell just ring?
Go to a happy place….. Katrina-Ranbir, Arbaaz-Malaika, Farhan-Adhuna, tis the breakup season.
