Cannot Stress It Enough

This subject may be boring for some of you but do read it nonetheless. If it helps in making even a minor change, I shall be glad.

Over the last couple of months, life has been pretty stressful for me. I hear a lot many of you saying 'ditto'. If not recently, you might have experienced it in the past, a one-time thing for some, and a never ending saga for some others. One thing's for sure, nobody's untouched.

Life and lifestyle have changed drastically over the last decade for all of us. Advanced technology, globalisation, free exchange of data and information, have created dramatic effects. New opportunities opened up, people moved up a notch in financial status. One can see innumerable advantages, but there's no denying that this is also having an impact on our health, directly or indirectly. Career problems, relationship problems, family problems. Reasons may vary, personal, professional, but it's there. All around us. Stress.

And if it's limited only to me, I can probably ignore it, but it's not. When a family member gets affected, it affects the others in the family as well. It changes the mood of the whole family. Children sense something's wrong and get restless. So it's utmost important that one tackles this stress. Being healthy, eating right, exercising, everybody either follows it or at least has it on the back of their mind. We need to give as much importance to our mental health.

I heard something interesting about this , and felt like I need to share it with all of you.

Apparently there are five levels of our body. Spiritual, Emotional, Mental, Intellectual, Physical. And each one of these has an impact on the other. So say, when we are scared or nervous, we tend to sweat; this is the emotional area having an impact on the physical area. Likewise, when we are experiencing some physical pain, it can make us frustrated and angry, this is the physical one acting on the mental area. When we are overworked, we get exhausted; the intellectual area acting on the physical area. This action and interaction always goes on. What we need to understand is that stress has an effect on the body, and so the root cause of most illnesses is in the mind. The solution is that the innermost level, that is the spiritual level needs to be maintained. In short, hold on to nature. Nature is giving, it keeps giving but we forget to take. Nature had intended for every human being to be happy. Look at a child for instance, how happy he is. He never engages in blame games. If anything causes him pain, he doesn't blame his mother or the situation. As we grow older and supposedly mature, we lose this innocence, and forget how to be happy.

Many of you may probably know this already. By this I mean, you know you are stressed out, and you know something needs to be done, but you're so occupied otherwise, that you just drag on, without giving this a second thought. Some of you may not even know that you're suffering because of stress. If that's the case, you need to be aware. Cos the first step towards solving a problem is knowing in the first place that there is one. I'm no expert on this. In fact I've been struggling with handling my own stress, but because I know what it's like to be undergoing it, I realise how much important it is to focus on cleaning the mess. And I hope all of you realise it too. Do what helps you relax. Be calm, happy, be healthy.

Unfortunately in our daily lives achieving that work life balance is quite difficult. However, I couldn't agree more that we have to figure out ways to manage the stress before it becomes something big.

I know it's easier said than done Adwait, but one needs to try.
