Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna!

Goodbyes, of any kind, I hate them. I don’t know how some people can do it so easily. Really. We live in a world today where, we are gheraoed by too many people, and come across lots of junta across various walks of our life. But that’s about it. People come and go, easily. This is unlike our previous generations.

Cute Cartoon Sad Face
Let me explain. For a kid who grew up in India before the 80s and 90s it was very simple back then. He grew up in a joint family, he was surrounded with the same set of friends throughout childhood, whether it was at school or home. And later in life just like every other individual, genuine friendships became rare for him. The chaddi buddy types. Not impossible but rare. But it didn’t matter cos his childhood yaars were still around, and the bonds just got deeper.

Come Y2K and with globalisation and the naara of ‘Saara Jahaan Hamaara’, a whole new generation of Indian globe-trotters was born.

Kids make friends easily. Oye tune muje kyon maara! Aye tune yeh kyun kiya. De maar, le maar. And the next day you are snatching away the same friend’s lunch box. Yes, children are immature and maybe a tad insensible, but probably that just enhances the beauty of the friendships made in those days.

Those lunch boxes however, and the friends are nowhere near today’s vagabond generation. Dost get flung across various corners of the world. Hence we start looking for new ones. And then the same problem. Egos, attitudes, so called maturity and sensibility creating barriers and depriving us of those golden bonds we so easily made as a kid.

Yeah at times you get lucky and happen to bump into that one person who feels like a bhula bichda yaar! And you envy your own luck. O teri, yeh kaise ho kaya

·        Endless gupshup (I love what you are wearing, what shade is that!),
·        Crazy talk (I knowwww what you did last night!),
·        Discussing others ala bitching (Can you believe that woman!)

This become a part of your life yet again. Okay those are specific girl talk examples but you can conjure up the boy talk people. Something like – Oh she’s so cute, but solid bhaav khaati hai!

And then one fine day, Dhan Te Nan, the inevitable! Remember, Saara Jahaan Hamaara. So that friend who brought back those priceless innocent moments into your life announces he’s moving. To a faraway land. You are left with no choice but to deal with it, just as a ‘mature and sensible’ adult is supposed to.

A personal heartfelt post after long for that bff of mine (and to all of yours). She shall be miles away, but shall always have a special place in my heart.

And I know she’ll be sitting with tissues in her hand as she reads this so I have got to end on a lighter note. Here we go then. The No Alvida tagline made me think of the next most obvious thing, the list of things I would surely like to say Alvida to,

Chubhti Jalti Garmi ...
No, Shower to Shower powder doesn’t help! Nor does any amount of aerated killer cold drink! Kill the root cause people. Jaago. Plant trees, save water, save electricity, save the Earth. Else with this global warming, the day when human race will join the dinosaur clan is not too far.

KSG and Bipasha PDA ...
Yes, we know by now that you two are the luckiest souls to have set foot on the planet. Thank you for reminding the world over and over again. But please o please can we now stop the non-stop relay of pictures professing your undying never-ending indisputably unique love to each other?

Road Rage Maafia ...
Now now now, what do I say about these angry young (or old) men! What can any of you say for that matter? What is it that causes someone to vent out his frustrations at a man overtaking him, or a woman trying to drive her way through obscenely crazy traffic. Nobody knows and more importantly nobody cares dude! Keep your emotions in control. Period.

Thenga from Maaldaar Indians to the Country ...
Mallya being the latest in line, is the most talked about. But our country has many such Government ke Jamaai. Subrato Roy for instance has bad loans of almost 4 times what Mallya owes and has opted to become a jail waasi rather than paying up. Boss, both banks and investors khoon ke aasoon ro raye hain while his future gen must be doing his Aarti. People like you and me are busy wondering, how and why can there not be a way to recover that 36000 crore! How is his time in jail going to help any cause at all!

You have compared the relationships of yore with those of the happening times that are now, in your own way. The comic instrument has successfully captured many deeper meanings. The snippets are like shards of glass in the aftermath of a tragically concluded road rage.
